What good is a public speaking classroom without a stage on which students can perform?
I faced that problem in my own classroom so I had to get a bit creative. I ended up getting two palettes that were used to stack the new textbooks that were sent to my school at the beginning of the school year. As you know palettes are not the most attractive structures (especially after they've been used) so I made a few measurements, went to Home Depot and had plywood cut to size. A few hammer swings later I had a "stage" on which my students could perform. I borrowed a music stand from the music teacher to use as a podium and for just a few bucks I had a sturdy stage area!
There are many other (cheap) ways to make your own classroom stage. Here are a few more ideas!
1. Use curtains creatively!
Check out this really cute idea here: http://refreshingthehome.com/a-stage-for-the-kids-room
2. Another take on a palett stage!
Check out how one groom created a palette stage for a wedding. This idea could certainly work in a classroom. Check it out here: http://jjohannesson.blogspot.com/2012/10/palette-stage-diy.html
3. PVC piping anyone!
PVC piping is good for so much! Who knew that you could use it to make a stage. Check it out here: http://www.astonmagic.co.uk/fcmuk/freebies/stage.htm
